Fleck Featured on PCN's 'On the Issues'
8/15/2008
Rep. Mike Fleck (R-Huntington/Blair/Mifflin) will be featured on PCN (Pennsylvania Cable Network) “On the Issues”.

Fleck discussed his legislation regulating the display of human remains for commercial profit. The show ends with Fleck discussing other issues facing the General Assembly when they reconvene on September 15.

“This program is a great way to educate the public on important issues concerning Pennsylvania,” Fleck said. “I’m glad I had the opportunity to be a guest and was honored to be one of the first freshmen to be featured on PCN.”

Fleck’s proposal, House Bill 2299, will require proof of body donation before it’s permitted to be displayed. Proof of donation would need to come in the form of written authorization from the deceased, either in a will or other legal document, or from the deceased’s next of kin.

His legislation comes in light of recent museum exhibits at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh and the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in Harrisburg, in which unclaimed human cadavers from China are used to display how the body works.

“On the Issues” host Larry Kaspar and a PCN film crew came to Huntingdon to interview Fleck in his district office.

The program is scheduled to air 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 and will rebroadcast on Monday, August 18 at 9:30 a.m.
