Fleck Appointed to Workforce Investment Board
2/18/2009
Rep. Mike Fleck (R-Huntingdon/Blair/Mifflin) has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board (PA WIB) for the 2009-10 legislative session.

“I look forward to working with my fellow board members to strengthen Pennsylvania’s job market,” Fleck said. “During this time of economic downturn, we need to work to keep jobs in Pennsylvania and improving the state’s business climate to attract new employers to start their businesses here. That is the first critical step in positively changing the Commonwealth’s economic outlook.”

The PA WIB is designed to act as a work force policy adviser to the governor, helping to develop a workforce system that works in conjunction with the administration’s economic and education goals and priorities. The board works to ensure that the needs of both employers and workers are met. The board also provides policy guidance and gives recommendations on how to improve Pennsylvania’s work force system.

Fleck was appointed to the board by Republican Leader Sam Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana/Armstrong). The board consists of one member from each of the four legislative caucuses, as well as several cabinet secretaries and representatives of the business community.
