Rep. Mike Fleck’s (R-Huntingdon/Blair/Mifflin) offices will be closed Tuesday, March 3, due to the unexpected death of Julia Covert, a legislative aide in Fleck’s Huntingdon office.
“Julia had a tireless dedication to public service and helping others,” Fleck said. “She was not only a colleague, but a friend as well. A vital member of my staff and the community, she will be greatly missed.”
An active member of her community, Covert served as secretary of Three Springs Borough and was a member of the Three Springs First United Methodist Church. A dedicated public servant, she worked for 16 years as an aide to former Sen. Robert Jubelirer prior to joining Fleck’s staff.
Covert is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Douglas James, and a grandson, Andrew James. Viewing will take place today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Orbisonia. The funeral will take place at the Three Springs United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. Additional visitation will take place prior to the funeral service, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Fleck’s offices will re-open Wednesday, March 4.
